Kolhapur Medical and Healthcare Camp 2013 – A Life Time Experience

It was a great honor to be part of the volunteer team.
Everything was exceptional from :
  • Initial Planning
  • Transport Arrangement
  • Accommodation
  • Planning at the Camp Sight – Registration, General OPD, Eye Checking, Specialist OPD, student check-up, distribution of medicines etc.
  • Distribution of items under “ June te Sona “ “Vidya Prakash Yojana’ “Cleaning Material, Quilts etc.
  • “Satsang” in the evening
  • Last but not the least  – the FOOD,  the “Annapurna Prasadam”
During the three day camp, we had an opportunity to interact with volunteers from different centers in Mumbai, to Kolhaur, to Nagpur to Ranchi to Delhi to Muscat. Volunteers were from different age group, different profession. It was a great pleasure to share the experiences with each other.
We heard the way the Kolpaur volunteers put in the efforts to visit the remote villages, without any transport arrangement or even motor-able roads, collect the data (they even trained their spouses to operate the computer, so that the data can be maintained by them as the volunteers themselves were busy with their job and data collection), and finally made the arrangements for distribution. It is not a three day camp for them but an ongoing process.
On 27th – Distribution day, the packets were arranged, – by village – by family, along with other material like Soaps Cleaning powder, Combs, Candles etc. The entire scene was like a big military operation, with each group loading their own truck/tempo and marching to the distribution sight.
The mood at the distribution sight was great, villagers gathered  at the distribution sight, chant songs, of Bapu, their faith on Bapu was visible on their face, at some sights, villagers lovingly  offered snacks/tea/ sarbat etc. to volunteers.
On 28th the camp day, since morning the villagers started thronging the camp, students have lined up for the annual checkup. All the volunteers, after the breakfast went to the respective counter. The camp started after the prayer by Nandai and Suchit dada.
Each villager was treated with respect and guided properly by the volunteers to the respective counter. There was a big queue for the Eye check and Spectacle collection, general OPD, Student check up, as well as Annapurna Prasadam. In spite of such a huge gathering there was no chaos anywhere, everything was well planned.
Towards end of the camp one must ask a question to himself what was my contribution to the camp? Why I am here?
Everybody who comes here is at Bapu’s wish. Bapu wants us to learn how the 13 point program announced by Bapu is practically applied, the “sava” (dedication, discipline and planning) by local volunteers, devotion of the villagers.
According to me what one can do least is make maximum hanks, contribute towards “Vidys Prakash Yojna” (as there is no light in some villages, power goes off during monsoon in many villages) “ June te Sona” and share the experience with other “bhaktas,” who have not been to Kolhapur Medical Camp.

  1. Kolhapur Medical camp 2013….Bapu Aai and Dada gave me and Sandeepsinh a chance to participate in this camp.I am ambadnya to be a part of this mega event of Bapu Aai and Dada’s love !My excitement began from the day of preparation for the camp. As it was my first camp ,I was very enthusiastic and excited ! I cannot express my feelings of this camp in words. You all have seen the pictures of this big project ,I have never seen any project like this before.Even after coming back from KMC, I am immersed in the bhakti of villagers and seva of all volunteers .All of them were tied with one thread….the thread of love for Bapu Aai and Dada …..we could see the love for Bapu in their eyes,in their gajar,abhangs…..If there is heaven on earth …that is surely Kolhapur medical camp venue. Three days for us were like we are in some other world of bhakti ,seva and paramananda.Seeing the love of villagers for Bapu Aai and Dada, our eyes were filled with love and gratitude.Hats off to all the volunteers for their seva and arrangemants, that we never felt we are away from home.Bapu Aai Dada had kept us under their warmth of love and care .We travelled by bus with all shraddhavaans singing gajars of Bapu Aai and Dada, enjoying ,sharing our experiences, making new friends, eating etc without having any tiredness .Even our stay at Kolhapur was taken care of so well.We are fortunate to get the chance to witness this whole event and to be a part of it.If we want to see real love for Bapu ,it could be seen in the eyes of every villager.Three days of paramanada ,bhakti and seva and interaction with Aai and Dada and their darshan…what else we can ask for…. .Interaction with local villagers ,volunteers, organisers, make us realise the greatness of our Bapu ,which is beyond our imagination. This camp is just a small example of our Sadguru’s grace ,He is beyond explanation…….Really we are dhanya dhanya to attend this wonderful opportunity….We are AMBADNYA. Jai Jai Aniruddha Hari !Because of Bapu’s grace these villages have developped so well as compared to ten years back ,as we were told by local people . Amhi AMBANYA AHOT !

  2. Sudhirsinh Naik’s words quoted below-

    Hari Om,

We listen to the stories of Kolhapur camp. Our organisation, feeds a large number. Every year!!! A number that is OUTSIDE our control. In proper plates. Not on patrawalis (plates made from dried leaves). And we ensure that a sweet is included. Sometimes sheera, sometimes jalebis. Why?

And it is only after the thousands are fed that the volunteers in opthalmology eat their lunch. At six pm.

Well may be, Bapu wants His organisation to emulate Sai who cooked for and fed His devotees.

Feeding gives satisfaction. Annadaan gives satisfaction. Ask a young mother feeding her new born child!

The least we can do is to is to feed the blind, the lame, the deaf, the poor, the abandoned maids in Muscat. And if we can’t cook for them, then to donate money for such a cause. No doubt, that will make Saai and Bapu happy!!!! (And don’t worry whether there will be food poisoning!!!! Our ladies take care! And more importantly He will take care!!! )

Another story from Kolhapur is about how the children, the women sang the songs about Bapu, including a song which referred to the Upanishad.

Who told them about the upanishad? About the 4 ladies in Chapter 1 who sang about Sai? May be when the mind starts leaving the attachment for money, the joy of singing takes over. Unknown to us, our “man” becomes “chitt” Then Namya’s sister forgets that she is wearing an old dress, and she can sing! And the song melts Das Ganu’s heart. Shows him the way.

Where have our songs gone? We may ask. We are wearing good clothes, driving good cars, saving money, investing in lands and plots. Why don’t we feel the urge to sing?

A poet has said -Hai sabse madhur wo geet jinhe, hum dard ke soor me gaate hain! The “Durd” he refers to is not “our” sorrows, it is the “durd” of feeling compassion for someone else’s sorrow!!!

Someone who prayed with us in Muscat in far away Orissa, rebuilds an orphanage, completes an incomplete temple for lepers, constantly thinks about what more he can do. And his projects happen. Because he knows, he is not doing them. It is Bapu.

Let’s feel the compassion. Then we too can sing! We WILL sing!!!

  3. Hari Aum….

I will have to post my comments in installments as its such a formidable experience. 108% true Dada, when you quoted Adya Pipa’s line- Bapu karito amuchee seva. We generally say… KMC la chalalo seve sathi. This is not true particularly for non- Kolhapur/Pune sevaks. Bapu sends us to learn, learn and learn. I remember my On-job-training days as a Management Trainee- this is OJT for us as you aptly put it as The amount of dedication we saw in these 3 days is really humungous. Small kids to toothless Aajis, everyone exuded so much love towards Bapu Aai and Dada, and that too without seeing Bapu till date. Their continuous singing of their own penned gajars on Aai Dada and Bapu, the bhav and earnestness to offer love to us cannot be described in words. We thought that we are in villages to GIVE things to them but realised that its we who are TAKING from them. Bapunchi leela nyaari!

  4. Hari Om Dada
This year I was lucky enough to be a part of the camp and it was really a life time experience to cherish….every thing was perfectly plan and executed. As you said above P.P. Nandai and Suchida were first at the sight on first day and we were happy to have their Darshan in the morning…day started on good note. First day was distribution and one has to experience excitement of local bhaktas from villages. when reached to the village though it was bit late every body was gathered in the main area and singing songs they composed on P.P Bapu and dancing on the beats. Their excitement was like Bapu has really come to their village and got them gifts and so was the Bhaav. Every body was eagerly waiting for their names to be announced and once announced quickly collecting their material. small boys immediately tried the sweaters they received and were showing to their parents. In the evening we enjoyed the abhangas composed by local bhaktas and all of them were based on Upanishad. within a month since release of Upnishad they composed and practiced that. Second day – medical check up – school children started pouring in since morning even before all volunteers, and very happy to collect uniforms, slippers etc… Luckiest to get feed by P.P Nandai and Suchitdada. And lastly every body were returning satisfied and full stomach from Nandai’s Annapurna Prasadam.
The two days flew away quickly but It was a workshop for us to learn a lot.
