Just a couple of weeks back, I finished reading an extremely interesting book titled Digital Fortress;a techno-thriller novel written by the renowned American author Dan Brown who has authored the international bestseller novel, The Da Vinci Code. I read the Marathi translation of the book which was wonderfully done by Ashok Padhye. Its great to see Mehta Publishing House making these quality novels available to Marathi readers.
Digital Fortress transports the reader deep within one of the most powerful intelligence organizations on earth; an ultra-secret, multi-billion dollar agency whose existence is hardly known to its countrymen and the world.
The book describes in absolutely gripping detail, how this organization comes to being held hostage… not by guns or bombs, but by a software code, so ingeniously complex, that if released, it would cripple the intelligence system of its country. The book opens up before the reader a mysterious, unknown world of IT driven technologies and machines. It throws light on an altogether different aspect of Information Technology, which is particularly used in the field of intelligence. The book showcases the extent to which an individual or an organization can go to protect the national interests of his country.
With its unrelenting pace and unexpected twists and turns, particularly where the agency is scrambling to avert the biggest intelligence disaster in history, and to foil a desperate bid to destroy a creation of inconceivable genius by an impregnable code-writing formula that threatens to forever alter the balance of power, Digital Fortress is virtually ‘unputdownable’.
It just goes to show that hi-tech advancements in technology can be a double-edged sword, which may be used for massive destruction if it falls into the wrong hands; but, if used judiciously and positively it can bring about development and betterment and also act as a deterrent against anti-national elements. India’s nuclear policy of ‘no first strike’ is a classic example of judicious use of advanced technology.

Indeed…. I had read this novel in English when it had come out and this post refreshes my memory. All the technology is a tool in man’s hand and what can help can also destroy depending upon the way we use it. I recollect Parampujya Bapu’s Pravachan in Radhasahasranaam series- In His lucid style He puts forth how the Universe came into existence and how man saw some Superior Power in Fire (Agni) first. The circumstances have changed but the issues remain same- Maryada!
Latest one from Dan Brown- Inferno is also a splendid novel, central theme being Population explosion.

Ambadnya ! Dada hi-tech advancements in technology can be a double-edged sword, which may be used for massive destruction if it falls into the wrong hands; but, if used judiciously and positively it can bring about development and betterment .Here i think it in our own personal life how P.P BAPU AAI DADA helps us to be on with proper Right decisions in right timing. they hold our hands and makes us walk with right things its we who have to keep full faith in them.and hold the BAPU’S hand tight .Happiness is sure to follow.Many have experienced it and yet experiencing it to day today life every single second its BAPU AAI DADA.In all curves of life.AMBADNYA.

हरी ॐ दादा,
खरोखरच हे नॉवेल एकदम जबरदस्त आहे. एकदा हातात घेतले की सोडवत नाही. क्षणाला क्षणाला थरार, घडणार्या चित्तथरारक (spine chilling) घटना, कथेत येणारी अनपेक्षित पण काळजाचा ठोका चुकवणारी वळणे असे बरेच काही ह्या नॉवेलमध्ये आहे. ह्यामुळे नॉवेलमध्ये वाचक नखशिखांत (completely immersed) डूबून राहतो. जणूकाही वाचकाला बाह्यजगाचा विसर पडतो. Super computers, cryptography, information security, encryption, firewalls, secure access tunnels, databases म्हणजे नक्की काय आणि त्यांचे देशाच्या द्रुष्टीने असणारे अनन्यसाधारण महत्व हे सर्व नॉवेल वाचताना कळते. मी आता हे नॉवेल माझ्या मित्रांना नक्कीच वाचायला सांगेन.
मला ह्या नॉवेलचा मराठी अनुवाद हवा होता. मराठीमध्ये नॉवेल वाचतना जो feel आला तो एकदम जबरदस्त होता. मराठीतील शाब्दीक वाक बाणांच्या मारामुळे हे नॉवेल अधिकच खुलले. मराठी आवृत्ती बाजारात मला मिळाली नाही म्हणून मी नॉवेल खालील वेबसाईट वरून ऑर्डर केले….
