Hari Om Friend,

November, the penultimate month of the year is always awaited eagerly by the Shraddhavans. And rightly so! For it marks the birthday of our beloved Sadguru, who is the inspiration and guiding force of all the activities carried out by the Organisation.

This year too Aniruddha Pournima was celebrated solemnly and with great devotion. Devotees had turned up in large numbers to pay obeisance to Sadguru Shree Aniruddha Bapu. Each Shraddhavan knows for sure that it is their Sadguru who strives for their welfare, instills in them the required self-confidence and equips them to face and withstand the difficult times.

The path shown by Shree Aniruddha has taken shape in the form of various activities which are regularly carried out by the organization so as to provide support and compassion to the needy. One such activity is the Charkha Annapoorna Programme, wherein the needy spin the charkha and gets food grains and rice in return for the effort put in by them. The current issue of the Newsletter gives a brief account of this activity carried out by the Organisation.

Charkha Anapoorna Yojana

There are many people in the society who are unable to earn their livelihood even after toiling hard. Their sustained efforts do not yield them sufficient income to provide their family with even as little as two square meals a day. To provide support to such section of the society, Shree Aniruddha Aadesh Pathak initiated a project in the form of the Charkha Annapurna Yojana under the able guidance of Dr. Aniruddha D Joshi (Sadguru Bapu). The needy are granted an opportunity to spin the Charkha and submit hanks. In return, they receive Dal and Rice. After the submission of 1 hank, they are provided with 50 gms of Dal and 250 gms of Rice. In this way, they are able to respectfully sustain the needs of their family and earn two square meals a day thus eliminating the consequence of having to beg for the same. Charkha and Sliver (Pelu) required for producing the hanks are provided free of cost by the Organisation. This project began in the year 2010 at Borivali, Chembur, and Virar.

However, it gained momentum in its true sense in the year 2015, when it commenced at a village named Gandhipool in Mokhada. Three charkhas were provided by the Organisation and the requisite training to spin these was imparted to the villagers. Over a period of time and with the increase in demand, the Organisation provided 12 Charkhas at the Gandhipool village. After gaining success at Gandhipool, the scheme was extended to 7 more villages.

Presently, a total of 45 Charkhas are operational. As of September 2017, 37,600 hanks have been submitted and the villagers have been provided with Dal and Rice in accordance.
Till date, more than 350 families have benefitted under the Charkha Annapoorna scheme. The hanks submitted by the villagers are used for making school uniforms and are distributed free of cost to the underprivileged children of Kolhapur. The Charkha Annapoorna Yojana envisioned by Dr. Aniruddha Dhairyadhar Joshi has thus proved to be a boon, providing compassion and support to the needy section of the society.
