Saraswati Poojan (Dasara/Vijayadashami)

Hari Om, During his Pitruvachan dated 10th October 2019, Sadguru Shree Aniruddha had spoken about “Yaa kundendutusharhaardhawaalaa’ prayer. Also, he had said that the details of the Saraswati Poojan that is performed on the day of Dasara at home would be shared through my blog. Accordingly, given below are the details of the poojan:

Poojan Material:
1. Turmeric (haridra), kumkum, akshata
2. Niraanjan (lamp)
3. Coconut – 2 nos.
4. Jaggery-coconut as an offering
5. Flowers, Aaptyachi paana (leaves)
6. Saraswati – books and picture
7. Betel nut – 2
8. Betel leaf
9. Mahapoojan photo frame from the Varada-Chandika Prasannotsav or the one in which MothiAai Mahishasurmardini is together with the Sadguru – to be kept as poojan backdrop.

This year, considering Coronavirus pandemic, the material mentioned above is to be replaced with haridra akshata and kumkum akshata.

Arrangement:
1. Spread a cloth over a chaurang (short wooden table) or a paat (wooden seat) as a platform.
2. Make the arrangement on the platform, as shown below.

Poojan procedure:
1. Firstly, offer haridra and kumkum to the niraanjan.
2. Next, recitation of ‘Vakratunda’ stotra.

‘वक्रतुंड’ स्तोत्र

प्रणम्य शिरसा देवं गौरीपुत्रं विनायकम् ।।
भक्तावासं स्मरेन्नित्यमायु:कामार्थसिद्धये ।।१ ।।

प्रथमं वक्रतुण्डं च एकदन्तं द्वितीयकम् ।।
तृतीयं कृष्णपिगाक्षं गजवक्त्रं चतुर्थकम् ।।२ ।।

लम्बोदरं पञ्चमं च षष्ठं विकटमेव च ।।
सप्तमं विघ्नराजेन्द्रं धूम्रवर्णं तथाष्टमम् ।।३ ।।

नवमं भालचन्द्रं च दशमं तु विनायकम् ।
एकादशं तु गणपतिं द्वादशं तु गजाननम् ।।४ ।।

द्वादशैतानि नामानि त्रिसंध्यं य: पठेन्नर: ।
न च विघ्नभयं तस्य सर्वसिद्धिकरं प्रभो ।।५ ।।

विद्यार्थी लभते विद्यां धनार्थी लभते धनम् ।
पुत्रार्थी लभते पुत्रान् मोक्षार्थी लभते गतिम् ।।६ ।।

जपेत् गणपतिस्तोत्रं षड्भिर्मासै: फलं लभेत् ।
संवत्सरेण सिद्धिं च लभते नात्र संशय: ।।७ ।।

अष्टभ्यो ब्राह्मणेभ्यश्च लिखित्वा य: समर्पयेत् ।
तस्य विद्या भवेत्सर्वा गणेशस्य प्रसादत: ।।८ ।।

इति श्री नारदपुराणे संकटविनाशनं श्रीगणपतिस्तोत्रं संपूर्णम् ।

3. After the recitation, offer a garland to the photo frame
4. Then, offer haridra-kumkum and akshata to the betel nut leaves, coconut, books and weapons/tools.
5. Now, recite the following shlok:
(Shantakaaram)

शान्ताकारं भुजगशयनं पद्मनाभं सुरेशं
विश्वाधारं गगनसदृशं मेघवर्ण शुभाङ्गम्।
लक्ष्मीकान्तं कमलनयनं योगिभिर्ध्यानगम्यम्
वन्दे विष्णुं भवभयहरं सर्वलोकैकनाथम्।। 

6. Offer flowers and Aaptyachi paana (leaves) while reciting “yaa kundendutusharhaardhawaalaa’ stotra.

या कुन्देन्दुतुषारहारधवला या शुभ्रवस्त्रावृता ।
या वीणावरदण्डमण्डितकरा या श्वेतपद्मासना ॥
या ब्रह्माच्युत शंकरप्रभृतिभिर्देवैः सदा वन्दिता ।
सा माम् पातु सरस्वती भगवती निःशेषजाड्यापहा ॥

7. Then, chant “Om Krupasindhu Shree Sainaathaaya Namah” 24 times
8. Next, lit the niraanjan and do the aukshan. Then, offer naivedya of jaggery-coconut.
9. Recite ‘Vijay Mantra’.

This marks the completion of the Dasara/Vijayadashami Saraswati Poojan.
