Lalita Panchami
Lalita Panchami - Mothi Aai (Adimata Jagadamba) at Residence of Bapu
The fifth day of the month of Ashwin (Ashwin shuddha panchami) is the Lalita Panchami. It was on the night of the Ashwin shuddha Panchami that the Adimata Mahishasurmardini manifested before the army of Shreeram to slay Durgam, who stood in the way of the fulfilment of Her blessings and Will – viz. the destruction of Ravan. It was then that with Her 'parshu', She slayed Durgam, the demon who assumed the form of the crow. Having slayed Durgam, the Adimata Mahishasurmardini called upon Her beloved daughter Alhadini in the 'leelagrahi', i.e. the 'Lalita' form, in order to inform Shreeram about this leela that She had brought about and also to keep Janaki informed and abreast in a timely way, about the Ram-Ravan war. This entire story appears in the 27thchapter of the Shree Matruvatsalyavindanam. This chapter that highlights the significance of the Lalita Panchami also includes the Ashubhanashini Stavan of Shree Adimata which in turn includes the prayer of Bibheeshan that is an all time guide for the shraddhavaan bhakta:

पापोऽहं पापकर्माऽहं पापात्मा पापसंभव:।
त्राहि मां आदिमाते सर्वपापहरा भव॥
