October 2018

From the Editor's Desk

Hari Om Friend,

The month of October has arrived, and the onset of festivities has already set a joyful atmosphere around. It starts with the festival of Navratri when we warmly and joyously welcome the arrival of Mothi Aai, i.e. Maa Durga and worship Her wholeheartedly through the 9-day-festival, as per the guidance of Sadguru Shree Aniruddha. The Navratri festival includes Durga Poojan, and recital of the Matruvatsalya Vindanam, the sacred work authored by Sadguru Shree Aniruddha.

While we happily welcome Mothi Aai in our homes, we are also proud to announce that ‘Vatsalyachi Ubb’ project has completed 12 years of its creative existence. Vatsalyachi Ubb is a project, which is initiated and run by ‘Ahilya Sangha’ under the guidance of Sadguru Shree Aniruddha.

Vatsalyachi Ubb

Shraddhavans perform the Seva (devotional service) of knitting the sweaters. The purpose of this project is to overcome the lack of proper winter clothing for the labour classes and avert deaths due to the cold.

This Seva is open for anybody who wishes to contribute to this project. The project, in fact, sees greater participation from homemakers and middle-aged women. The women Shraddhavans, interested in performing this Seva are trained free of cost by Ahilya Sangha, the sessions of which are conducted for six months and twice a week.

Shraddhavans knit sweaters for babies, children below ten years of age and senior citizens. Apart from sweaters, caps, socks, mufflers and monkey caps are woven as well. So far, Sadguru Shree Aniruddha Upasana Trust and sister organisations have distributed about 22,000 sweaters. Shree Aniruddha Upasana Foundation

These sweaters which are knit just with love and without any expectations not only provide the warmth of the wool but also the warmth of a mother’s love. Moreover, several women Shraddhavans chant the name of God and their Sadguru during the Seva and thus this Seva is accompanied by Bhakti. The warmth generated through such selfless and devotional seva helps an individual to sustain through the storms of life firmly.
